This is Mostly Glass' first Goblet Exhibit to which
an International Group of Glass Artists were invited to participate.
Across the Atlantic, Giuliano Ballarin and William Gudenrath
represent the best of the Traditional Venetian Goblets. For the
Whimsical ones, we have a much larger representation. The Artists
went way out of their way in their whims. Bandhu Dunham kept the
functional but added the very appealing tie Balloons to the stem.
The inspiration for this Exhibit came from the two Bicchieri
Exhibits that Centro Studio Vetro organized in Murano and
Venice in 2001 and 2002. It was at the same time a fund raising for
CSV. The Artists donated the Goblets and the proceeds of the sales
went to CSV. Mostly Glass bought several of these Goblets and many
of those are part of the current exhibit.
Mostly Glass had a fruitful exchange with CSV at the time VETRO
magazine was being published. Through CSV members, VETRO and the
Bicchieri Exhibit we met many great Artists among whom are Mauro
Bonaventura, Franco e Mauro Panizzi, Kate and Steve Gillies -
Jones...

Comments |
Ballarin,
Giuliano & Roberto |
The Goblets of Giuliano Ballarin exemplify the best
of the Venetian style.
These Venetian Goblets were sought after by the
European Royalty of yesteryears beyond their esthetic appeal and the
pleasure of drinking wine in them. The belief was that the glass they are
made of contains a substance that neutralizes poison! |
Panizzi,
Franco &
Mauro |
Franco and Mauro represent the young generation of
Murano Glass Artists at its best. There is a particular appeal to the
kind of cold work they do on their Goblets. |
Bonaventura,
Mauro |
Mauro's Goblets illustrate Whimsical at its best.
It is one of his
Gabbia Goblet
in the first CSV Exhibit that led us to track him down. His was turned
very appealing the moment we introduced it to the US Collectors. |
Gillies – Jones, Stephen & Kate |
Partners in life as well as art, Steve and Kate are
at the fore front of the British contemporary glass art scene. We also
discovered them through the 2001 CSV Bicchieri and through this
Goblet Exhibit, we are introducing their Work to US Collectors. |
Dunham, Bandhu |
One of the most prolific writer on Lampworked
Glass, Bandhu is an innovative artist in this field. Through this
Exhibit, he is introducing the technically challenging tie balloons on
the stem of his Goblets. |
Prasch, Sally |
Sally is among the few Lampworked artists who
manages a good balance between glass for science and for art. Her
command of the scientific part allows her tour de force in
glass that few can do. This coupled with her creativity makes pieces
like the Singing Goblet truly
Collectible Work. |
Gudenrath William |
Bill, an accomplished musician has taken Glass Art
as another passion of his. There he contributes immensely as an
American who creates the best of the Venetian Glass, as a teacher and
writer about this Art Form, and as historian who is capable of
reproducing faithfully ancient glass work. Because of all of that,
Bill works closely with the Corning Museum and with the glass art
section of the British Museum. Him and his wife Amy Schwartz have
contributed immensely to the success of the Glass School at Corning,
The Studio. |
Siegel, Ruth |
Ruth is another "discovery" through CSV. Her
Flower Goblet of fused glass was
among the most appealing in the 2002 Bicchieri Exhibit. We
traveled to DC to meet her and liked a lot of the other Work. In
conjunction with this Goblet Exhibit, we started a presence for her
Work on our web site. In the few months that it has been shown in our
Gallery it has attracted the attention of critical glass art
collectors. |
Neher, Margaret |
Margaret's faithful reproduction of Orchids in
Glass is appealing to both the Orchid aficionados and to those
attracted, but less knowledgeable about Orchids. Her placing these
Orchids on the outside of her
Goblets
was a great challenge that won her the approval of sophisticated
Collectors. |
Gundi |
Gundi's plate glass sculptures are among the most
popular items in most Galleries.
Champagne,
is a a superb addition to the Whimsical Goblets. |
Santini, Emilio |
Emilio brought to the US the best of the
traditional Lampworked Murano Glass and added his signature
contemporary tilt. You can see that in the pieces we have from him on
the web (Santini). Among his most attractive Work are the
Miniature
Goblets |
Seaman, Harry |
Harry is a very innovative glass Artist. Examples
of his Work are on in the space we have for him on the web (Seaman).
He prepared 2 superb Goblets for the Exhibit. They will be
photographed shortly and posted on the web. |
Cenedese, Simone |
To create innovative and technically challenging
Glass Sculptures,
Simone Cenedese has in his Furnace some of the
best contemporary equipments.
In addition to his own creations, Simone executes the designs of
some of the best known Artists |
Other Artists |
The Artists listed below do not have their own
