The thin, colored glass rods are
stacked against the drawing to be created in Glass. The resulting
thick cold cylinder is heated then pulled into a thin cylinder
(called Murrina Cane). The cane is cut in cross sections to get
several of the Murrinas (in coin or square shapes) shown on the
left.
From most canes between 50 and 100 good Murrinas can be obtained. In
the case of large elaborate images, the process results in fewer
pieces. |
